resource center : Episode Guide: 102 The Fire and the Wood
Airdate: 03 October 2003

Everyone's taken aback by Joan's sudden interest in enrolling in advanced placement chemistry, which she does after God asks her to stop being an underachiever. Ironically, Joan ends up in AP chemistry with her younger brother, Luke, the star of the class, and finds herself struggling to work with and understand her two oddball class partners -- Adam, an alleged stoner, and Grace, a tough, rebellious outsider. Meanwhile, Helen tries to motivate Kevin to accept and begin driving a used hands-control vehicle. And Will ruffles the feathers of the town’s major players by approaching a potential arson investigation in an exceedingly thorough but non-political way.
