resource center : Episode Guide: 104 The Boat
Airdate: 17 October 2003

Joan enthusiastically tackles her God-given project to build a boat, but despite believing it's a school assignment, Helen fears her daughter is becoming a bit eccentric. Joan seems to have an aptitude for building the boat, and initially finds herself drawn to working on it -- even skipping classes to do so. However, later, after facing some challenges and deeming the project to have little value, she starts to wish she had another talent instead. Meanwhile, the well meaning Will encourages Kevin to join a wheel-chair basketball team, which provokes the former high school sports star to start acting out against his father. And, Will clashes with his officers when he rejects their proposal of how to proceed with the investigation of two murdered cops -- as, unlike them, he’s not convinced that it’s the work of a serial killer.
